INTERVENTION, YA LOST ME AT REHAB

In the years I died a slow death in Alcoholics Anonymous (THE CULT), I went to more treatment centers than I can number.  Typically, I would go to the Emergency Room where I was referred to whatever place had an open bed.

Sometimes, I'd find myself too caught up in POWERLESSNESS to deal,  so I'd ask friends, boyfriends, girlfriends and my mother to go to bat for me.  Misinformed for YEARS, we were told I must get treatment immediately for surely I'd end up in jail or dead in a ditch some where.

Desperate in our ignorance, I checked into the nuthouse over and over.

There is no shortage of places available to contact for assistance.  The phone book, buses, and advertisements boast toll free numbers, detoxes, hospitals and organizations are EVERYWHERE we look.  Billions of dollars have been spent in an effort to fix substance abuse, only to be wasted on the same useless SOLUTION:  twelve step DOGMA.

Touted for years as the ONLY option, society believes and promotes THE LIES these programs tell.  All the while, the addicted are the ones who continue to suffer, at the financial burden of people who want to help...

Recently, THE CULT has acquired a brand new ally in THE IDIOT BOX!  Yes, that's right folks!  If you haven't been privy to the addict's latest source of humiliation, YOU ARE MISSING OUT!  I'll tell ya, it's incredible!  All you have to do is pick up your remote!

Shows about addiction are popping up on every network, including, MTV's Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Slew (er, I mean DREW), TLC's Addicted, and my all time favorite, A & E's INTERVENTION.  This show is AMAZING!

Have you seen it?

All I can say *WOW!*

This show is gritty and intense.

I love it because of the empathy I feel for the subjects.  I know all about what it's like to be in the position they find themselves in.  It is painful and exhilarating to watch.

As one of my friends says, "INTERVENTION IS EMOTIONAL PORN."

There is nothing like watching  a full blown addict, alcoholic or eating disordered person in action.  The camera looms as these people destroy themselves with their various drugs of choice.  I cannot get enough of it.  I've had INTERVENTION marathons, where I am glued to my laptop FOR HOURS AT A TIME, as I watch painful story after story.

Like most folks, I am absolutely fascinated by what these people will do to stay high twenty four seven.  This show makes ME BAWL MY EYES OUT with abandon.  It's a fantastic release, and I ADORE it.

For those who have not had the pleasure of watching this BRILLIANCE, I will give you a brief synopsis:  An addict, sick beyond belief, has agreed to be in a "documentary about addiction" (yes, A& E LIES to them).  He or she is followed around by a camera crew as they engage in what the affected THINK they have to do in support of their chosen habit.

Nothing is left out as we watch the horror that is the life an addict caught up in the throws of POWERLESSNESS.

Viewers are assaulted by graphic snippets of just how bad addiction becomes, while the sickest of the sick shoot up, snort, smoke, drink, gamble, or eat and vomit themselves into oblivion.  The best episodes feature people who have multiple outlets for the emotional issues they have that will NEVER be dealt with on this show.

Greedy producers allow addicts to put their lives in danger as we follow them into the streets where they buy their drugs of choice.  One particular episode comes to mind where they highlight an addict who has to look over his shoulder for fear of violent retaliation at the hands of the dealers he robbed to feed his enormous Oxycontin habit.

The cameras continue to roll, while his nightmare is played out before us.  I held my breath until the producers pried the angry men off their victim, then exhaled strongly with relief as the attackers fled.  EMOTIONAL PORN, I tell ya.  I cannot get enough of it!

When it seems like things cannot get any worse, the addict is shown entering a room where they think they will have their final interview.  This is where the TRUE premise of the show is revealed.  Addicts are blind-sided by the presence of people from their lives who have them surrounded to perform a well planned INTERVENTION.

Subjects cry, scream and throw fits as their family members read scripts they've prepared listing the detailed traumas they've had to deal with, thanks to the selfish and POWERLESS addict.  Professionals assist as the people who claim to care give them an ULTIMATUM to go to TREATMENT, or be abandoned FOREVER to their illness.

Call me sick.  I shut the television off when the show reaches the part where they perform the INTERVENTION.

Forgive me, but as a person who has been through this type of shit too many times to count, I cannot bear to watch.  Don't get me wrong, I am all for families getting involved to help, but when they start with the propaganda that I was victimized by for TWENTY ONE YEARS, I usually bounce onto the things that add value to my life.

Every time I have found myself caught up in this portion of the program, I get ANGRY.  The most disgusting thing to me is how caught up the families and friends of these addicts are in the LIES the TREATMENT INDUSTRIES promote.

These poor people shed tears as they describe what it's like to live with with a chronic relapser.  Nothing seems to help, yet they hang in there with the only solution offered.  With a prayer and TOO MUCH hope,  they force them into REHAB, followed by a daily sentence of twelve step ABUSE.  Some of these addicts have been in treatment hundreds of times, just like ME.

Yet it never occurs to anyone that we have wasted our time and money on THE WRONG SOLUTION.

The definition of INSANITY is doing the same thing over and over, yet expecting different results.  INTERVENTION does an excellent job in proving my point that treatment centers and twelve step DOGMA are FAILURE.

We feel the frustration inherent in the people cast in the show as they tell the camera how the subject continues to use, in spite of multiple tries at this method.  Their stories are always the same, no matter how many times the addict has been shipped away to treatment.

They remain sick.

Why don't they just get better?

*DOH*

Everyone, including me, is worried sick about the addict's future and life.  All the while, POWERLESSNESS is forced down our throats.  What will it take for society to stop the INSANITY?  Based on what we see every Monday night, it will be more deaths and lives destroyed by THE CULT.

INTERVENTION was a repeat the other night with an episode centered on ROCKY, a championship boxer who became homeless on the streets due to his addiction to crack cocaine (such an insidious waste of people and time).  I felt empathy for this very sensitive man and his family because I know crack addiction all too well.

I've been there.  I

t is a horrible way to get high because you are never satisfied.

One hit makes you want more.

There is no controlling it, unless you figure out a way to abstain, like I DID.

People on crack will do anything to stay high.  Rocky walked away from his family and lived on the street for years in support of his addiction to sucking the devil's dick.

As I said, I usually turn off my television when they get to the intervention part because I cannot stand to watch how totally misled families and friends are about what is best for their loved one.  The ignorance pisses me off to no end.

But, I did watch the entire episode about Rocky because I was very interested to see how this DEAD BEAT DAD would react to his sons' pleas for him to get clean.  Also, I have hung out with the likes of this guy, while I was out there using crack myself, so I have a bit of a soft spot for homeless people.

Grab a tissue, and check him out while he reacts to his son's love for him.

Pretty intense, eh?  I thought Rocky's reaction was RAW and powerful.  My heart broke for him and his son when he described what it felt like for him to grow up knowing about is father, the CHAMPION, who became a street bum.  Rocky wails as his son declares "I LOVE YOU" (so did I).

I cannot help but wonder what happened to this addict to make him walk away from his dreams and his family for a life of struggle and pain?

This show, rehab and twelve step programs have us all fooled into believing it is simply a matter of POWERLESSNESS.  According to them, Rocky has no control over his desire for crack because he has a "DISEASE."  I know from experience that the problem is more than this pathetic LIE, but no one ever looks at constructive ways to deal with Rocky's REAL issues.

The truth of the matter is that Rocky has low self esteem.  This is just COMMON SENSE.  He was at the top of his game at one time, but he gave it all up for his love of cocaine?  I do not think so.  Something happened to Rocky long before he was a champion.

Could it be possible that this man who obviously cares about his family (watch the entire episode, if you don't believe me) has been subjected to something or someone in his past that gave him the idea that he doesn't deserve success?

Probably, but the show never even tries to find an answer to what made him turn to crack, aside from the same old cookie cutter failure of twelve step LIES.

Rocky will be sent to rehab, where he will learn about his addiction, submit to powerlessness, then be shoved into a program that promotes the same crap.  He will then make friends with people who are in "recovery" who will further break him down until he submits to DOGMA.

All the while, his core self esteem issue will remain unsolved, as he is taught to believe THE LIES.  Of course, for men who share Rocky's issue, the meetings are a perfect place to apply the inappropriate behavior chicks like me are forced to live with.

All of the ladies who have been exposed to THE CULT know that I am talking about THE THIRTEENTH STEP, an EPIDEMIC where diseased men pray on women in the ROOMS (read all about it here:  http://stop13stepinaa.wordpress.com).

By the time INTERVENTION catches up with Rocky for their FOLLOW UP, he is beaming in "recovery." Free, FOR THE MOMENT, he tells us how much his life has changed since his INTERVENTION.  He is living the life of his DREAMS.

He certainly looks better, but his behavior exemplifies the ULTIMATE DISGRACE, as Rocky brings THIRTEEN STEPPING behavior to the park, while he CAT CALLS WOMEN just trying to work-out.

Please CLICK HERE to watch a clip of the follow up episode of Rocky as he tells us all how great life is for him today, while they cut to scenes of him sitting in the park, verbally intruding on women.

It's a powerful example, as long as you can get through the stupid commercial in the beginning.

INTERVENTION, I have to ask, is this appropriate or necessary?

Do you honestly believe this man is WELL?

I have an idea.  Why don't you send Rocky back into treatment to learn how to deal with his REAL problem: low self esteem?

Of course, Rocky may never get to his core issues, since he is stuck in a CULT that promotes and encourages members to engage in this type of behavior.

Apparently, INTERVENTION approves, since the producers chose to show Rocky live, in a public place, acting out in this despicable way!

Why would they select this clip to showcase one of their "success stories?"  Don't they realize how this looks?  Some help they are.  I am embarrassed for Rocky and this award winning show.  His behavior is disgusting.  Is this really the best INTERVENTION has to offer?  Is he well?  I think not.

Wouldn't it be better to tape him hanging out with the family he got clean to be with during the first episode?  I would love to see how they get along nowadays.  We will never know because Rocky was sent to rehab, then a twelve step program, where family takes a back seat to daily meetings, service work, and promoting the PROPAGANDA everyone seems to believe.

I am willing to wager these relationships are none the better than when he was out on the streets, abusing himself for reasons that will remain unknown.  As a proud member of THE CULT, Rocky has no time for anything that will take him away from managing HIS POWERLESSNESS.

Unfortunately, low SELF ESTEEM is a problem shared by most addicts and alcoholics.  Rocky will probably see a cloud of smoke lofting from a pipe long before he ever gets to the bottom of what his real issues are.  It's a shame because CRACK will most likely kill him.

Rehab and twelve step programs do not promote the skills required to teach a guy like Rocky how to behave in a way that will bring the results he seeks (a girlfriend?).  Instead, he has been broken down to believe he is a piece of shit who will never be capable of anything more than mirroring the pigs in the program.

Wouldn't it be better if, perhaps, we taught Mr. Rocky about boundaries?  Wouldn't it be wonderful to watch a man like him figure out who he is, and what he wants?

I guarantee, if he had all of this worked out, he would not have been doing what he is doing in this video.  He needs to grow up, take responsibility for his life and his feelings.  Stay out of the park and spend some quality  time with his family.

A & E, I give you two thumbs up for what you trying to do with your show, but I really wish you and the rest of the world would wake up.  Rehabs and twelve step programs are a far cry from what works for the NINETY SEVEN PERCENT of us who fail at the only solution you are promoting.

So yeah, INTERVENTION, YA LOST ME AT REHAB.

DeConstrucor's Comment In Response to LETTER TO MY "FRIENDS" IN AA (page above)

"Brav fucking O.....Standing O fucking Vation. Or perhaps the Charlie Daniels quote from the Geico commercial of "thats how you do it son"

That was incredible.

Reminded me a little of "the letter" at the end of the Breakfast Club (perhaps the greatest movie ever)

Keep it up, dont be afraid to kick them in the teeth once in a while.

Always remember that its the misfits, the rebels, and the troublemakers that are the ones that change the world."

He post the following video at the end of his comment.

Thank you, my friend.
